New and Improved

The revised 2017 edition of Mind Play: A Guide to Erotic Hypnosis is now available on Amazon in print and Kindle editions, and on Smashwords.

If you already own Mind Play this is still the same book, but I’ve taken the opportunity to fix some things that have been bothering me and others:
  • Complete rewrite of the Ethics section to meet modern community standards, which have evolved a lot since 2013.
  • Updated the Resources chapter to include new events, sources, and communities that didn’t exist back then.
  • Went through the entire book, from the Obligatory Warnings and Disclaimers on, to make it more inclusive for people of all genders, body types, and abilities.
  • A bunch of typos that slipped past my eyes have been hunted down and corrected.
I could not have done this without the help of Daja and SpiralTurquoise, so if you like the changes please give them credit. If you see something I should have changed but didn’t, I’ll own that and we’ll fix it in less than four years.

So ... much ... teaching!!

I have a lot going on in the next few months, starting later this week.

We Have Ways of Making You Talk

sponsored by NEDS and NEHG
Friday, 8/11, 7:30-9:30pm in Waltham, MA
(FetLife event link)

There is nothing quite like a well-run interrogation scene. As a top, interrogations will challenge your creativity and ingenuity; as a bottom, they give you a chance to safely place yourself into an extreme situation. In this class we will go over the essential elements of an interrogation scene, including how to negotiate it and logistical considerations. Then Wiseguy delves into tactics for interrogators and how hypnosis can be used to turn up the intensity and effectiveness of information-extracting techniques. The class concludes with a demonstration scene plotted with the assistance and suggestions of the audience.

Unscripted:  Erotic Hypnosis on the Fly

sponsored by the Manchester NH hypnosis group
Saturday 8/12, 7:30-9:30pm in Manchester, NH
(FetLife event link)

To many beginners, hypnosis is something you do by rote: they perform the induction from the script they memorized, then deepen, then use the words they learned to produce whatever hypnotic effect has been negotiated. And this mostly works, in a fashion. But the best hypnotists are those who use communication and observation to fit their approach to the mind(s) they are playing with.  This class is all about learning to do that.

Fall 2017 Professional Hypnotherapy/NLP Certification

September - November 2017

Would you like to be a certified professional hypnotist and NLP practitioner?  Would you like to learn those skills in an online environment with fellow kinky people, taught by me?  This is your next opportunity.

The course is the same one I’ve been teaching to kinky groups twice a year since late 2014.  Those who graduate and pass the final exam earn:

  • Professional certification with the National Guild of Hypnotists
  • Professional certification with the National Federation of Neurolinguistic Programming
  • Really impressive-looking certificates, suitable for framing
  • The right to wear the Wiseguy Certified badge ribbon at events

Classes will begin in September and run through November, skipping holidays and dates when I am already committed to be somewhere else.  Email me and I’ll send you a course syllabus and details about the how, the where, the when, and the how much.

Erotic Hypnosis Weekend Intensive

Sponsored by TES
Friday - Sunday, 9/22-9/24 in New York City

TES and I are teaming up to do something exciting and a little different.  On Friday night we'll do an Erotic Hypnosis Jump Start -- a beginner-friendly intensive designed to take someone from total beginner to a good working understanding of the fundamentals of erotic hypnosis.  On Saturday we'll do a 5-hour intensive workshop for people with some experience (including Friday night graduates) who want to take their skills to the next level.  Then, on Sunday, I will be available for 5 hours for private sessions in which I can answer questions, provide coaching, hypnotize people, or whatever you wish -- it's your time and your agenda.

I'm also presenting at WEEHU in October.  See you on the road!

My TES Fest Agenda

The draft schedule for TES Fest 2017 is up.  Here are the classes I'm teaching at the event:

Induction Starter Kit (Friday 6/30, 5:15pm)
New hypnotists often find themselves relying on memorized and/or scripted inductions, which sucks a lot of the fun out of hypnotizing people.  This class is all about some basic inductions that are built from simple processes that are easy to learn and replicate, without any reliance on "magic" wording or complex manipulations.  Good for anyone who struggles with inductions or wants to learn some new ones.

Making It Stick (Saturday 7/1, noon)
A lot of hypnotists find that sometimes it's hard to get a suggestion to really take hold in their partner's mind.  In this class I'll explain some of the reasons this can happen, demonstrate techniques for helping to seat suggestions in your partner's mind, and discuss what to do when, despite your best efforts, the suggestion still doesn't seem to work as intended.

Deeper, Faster, Easier (Sunday 7/2, noon)
Being hypnotized is an ability that improves with skill and practice. This session is for those who want to be better at going into trance, either for themselves or when playing with a hypnotist. Attendees will learn and practice practical tips and exercises for going into trance more easily, more deeply, and more quickly for any hypnotist they choose to play with.

Hypnotic Anesthesia and Enhanced Sensation (Monday 7/3, 3:45pm)
Learn how to use hypnosis to control and alter your partner's body sensations.  We will discuss and demonstrate techniques to reduce sensation (anesthesia) as well as to enhance and manipulate it, all for fun and erotic purposes.

Mind you, there are lot of other awesome presenter teaching hypnosis classes at TES Fest.  Look through the schedule and you'll see:
  • Zany Danger
  • MrDream
  • D'Artagnan
  • Baron Voltage
  • Jaden
  • Pinky
And that's just the hypnosis-related presenters -- there is a whole more to explore and enjoy at TES Fest.  Hope to see you there.

Who Wants to be a Professional Hypnotist?

Twice a year I hold a certification course in professional hypnotism/hypnotherapy and NLP for people in the kink community.  The Spring 2017 session will be starting in April.

This course combines professional hypnosis and professional NLP.  Participants who complete the course and pass the final exam will be certified by both the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and the National Federation of Neurolinguistic Programming (NFNLP).  We meet online for 100 hours of combined classroom and independent study, with class sessions held on weekend dates spread across about a 3-month period because we all have lives and busy schedules.

Tuition for the course is $1295, payable in installments.  If you'd like the detailed syllabus and class information, send me an email (wiseguy35@gmail.com) and I'll share.

Off to the Flea

I'm off this morning for Providence, RI, for NELA's annual Fetish Fair Flea.  This event keeps getting bigger and more interesting, and it's great to be a part of it.

This year's Flea features an expanded Hypnosis Lounge, where people can come in to ask questions, practice things, get hypnotized, or just hang out and enjoy the goings-on.  The Lounge is open from 7-9pm tonight (Friday 2/17), 10am-6pm Saturday, and 10am-6pm Sunday and is sponsored and supervised by my friends in the New England Hypnosis Group.  We'll be doing a number of scheduled demos and lots of improvised tutoring and hypnotizing throughout the Lounge time.

There are also scheduled classes, of course.  My dear friend ZanyM is teaching "Doll Play" at 10pm tonight and "This Feels So Good: Bodywork Techniques for BDSM & Trance" on Saturday at 1pm.  I'm teaching "Erotic Hypnosis 101" tonight (7:45-9:15) and "Use Your Words" Saturday morning (9:00 - 10:30am).  Hypnosis aside, the Flea is also a chance to learn from well-known names like Midori, Sir Vice and soumise, and of course the incomparable Team Blue.

Sturm und Drang

It's been a heck of a new year so far, hasn't it?  Let's start with the good stuff.

Charmed! 2017

If you were one of the almost 220 people who attended Charmed! 2017, you know how well things went.  If you weren't, make it a point to join us next year because you missed a lot!

Some of the highlights for me included:
  • Having Lady Ru'etha and Jukebox with us; it was SO good to see them!
  • Hearing from so many people at the event about what a great time they were having
  • The Sunday UnConference
We've gotten a ton of great feedback on the classes, but there is still time to add yours.  Just go to the Charmed! 2017 Online Schedule Grid and find a class you want to comment about -- each class name is a link to a feedback form specific to that class.

Winter Wickedness 2017

If you live anywhere near central Ohio, I hope you'll come out to Winter Wickedness 2017 (February 3-5 in Columbus, OH).  This will be my first time at Wicked, and I'm told to expect nothing but a blast.  I'm doing two classes ("All the Way Down" and "Erotic Hypnosis 101") and hoping to introduce a lot of new people to safe, responsible hypnokink.

And then there's the not-so-good stuff ...

FetLife Betrayal

You probably already know that FetLife arbitrarily destroyed hundreds of groups and fetishes whose names contained certain words that FetLife felt were linked to nonconsensual or dangerous behavior and were allegedly responsible for the loss of their merchant accounts, which they need to take credit card payments.  One of those forbidden words is hypnosis.  In one evening FetLife carpet-bombed our community and destroyed most of the online history we had accumulated to that point, and we've been promised that FetLife's censors will be back soon to eliminate more material that relates to the forbidden concepts.

Since FetLife clearly does not want our participation (or, it seems, the advertising revenue and donations that come with it) anymore, community leaders are mobilizing to get alternate communication channels into place.

For starters, take a good look at HypWatch which started up about a year ago and is run by well-known members of the community.

To keep informed on the upcoming erotic hypnosis events, visit hypnation.org regularly, as well as the individual event websites for (in date order):
This community is strong; as long as we keep communicating we can keep growing.
